Planning Project Scope

Through a year-long planning effort, archaeoinformatics.org intends to take ambitious steps toward the development of an effective cyberinfrastructure for archaeology. We argue that this cyberinfrastructure should provide concept-oriented, integrated research access to the three types of data sources that we consider most important for archaeological research: documents, databases, and images.

The results of this planning effort will be:

  • a report that articulates an implementation plan for the cyberinfrastructure,
  • an organizational structure that is poised for its implementation, and
  • greater disciplinary engagement in issues associated with the preservation and sharing of digital information in archaeology resulting from archaeoinformatics.org’s activities associated with the planning effort.
